1960-D Franklin Half Dollar

The 1960 Franklin Half Dollar continued the series into its third decade of release. Coins were produced at the Philadelphia and Denver mints for circulation. A proof version of the coin was also minted for inclusion in the annual proof set. By this time, the proof mintage had risen to nearly 1.7 million.

As with other issues near the end of the series, the 1960 and 1960-D Franklin Half are difficult to acquire in grades MS66 and higher. Coins are often encountered with heavy contact marks that preclude higher grades.
