1955 Franklin Half Dollar
The 1955 Franklin Half represented the first of two years when production was limited to only the Philadlephia Mint. This year also marks the lowest overall mintage for the series. Despite the having the lowest mintage, the coins carry only a slight premium above surrounding issues.
The most notable variety of the series occurred this year. It is known as the "Bugs Bunny" variety. A split appears on Franklin's lip which gives the appearance of teeth like the Bugs Bunny cartoon character. This came to be one of the better known varieties of the twentieth century.
