1949-S Franklin Half Dollar
The 1949 Franklin Half Dollar represented the second release of the new series featuring Benjamin Franklin and the Liberty Bell. Even though it does not the lowest mintage, the 1949-D Franklin Half is considered to be the key date of the series. This coin carries a premium price, particularly in gem and higher grades.
The 1949 Franklin Half was minted at the Philadelphia, Denver, and San Francisco Mints. This was one of only five years when the series was produced at all three mints.
